About
About Weekend Birder
Weekend Birder is Australia’s most listened-to nature podcast, hosted by Kirsty Costa.
Through stories, science, conversations and shared experiences, Weekend Birder reveals the fascinating lives of everyday birds - how they behave, communicate, survive and share the places around us.
Whether you’re completely new to birds or you’ve loved them for years, Weekend Birder is a welcoming place to stay curious, learn something new and enjoy the birds living around you.
Why birds?
Birds are part of our daily lives. They’re in our backyards, local parks, city streets, waterways and beaches. We hear them through our windows and see them on the way to work. We just don’t always pay attention to what they’re doing.
Weekend Birder began with a simple belief: noticing birds changes how we experience the world.
The more we notice, the more curious we become. Stories and science help us understand what we’re seeing, and understanding gives us more reasons to care.
That’s really what Weekend Birder is about - building relationships with birds, one ordinary encounter at a time.
