Spencer Hitchen is a teenage conservationist, environmental educator and award-winning nature photographer from Queensland. With his campaign Save Sunrise Glossies, he has mobilised tens of thousands of signatures to protect the Wallum habitat of the threatened Glossy Black-Cockatoo. In 2023, Spencer launched World Stand UP 4 Nature Day. His work has earned him recognition, including the Young Environmental Steward Award (Under 30) in the 2024 Noosa Biosphere Awards and a Roots & Shoots Mini-Grant from the Jane Goodall Institute. His latest project has been collaborating with filmmakers in the documentary Love Letter to the Unseen, which focuses on the critically endangered Maugean Skate and the fight to protect its only home in Tasmania.
